William Miller Conover Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William Miller Conover 82, a resident of S. First Street, Northville died Monday June 20, 2005 at the Nathan Littauer Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Orange, NJ on December 18, 1922. The son of William I. Conover and Jessie Miller Conover. He was a graduate of West Orange High school; he attended Drew University in Madison, NJ.He served in the US Navy during World War II as a parachute rigger. He was stationed at Toms River, NJ and at Whidbey Island, Washington State. After the war he was a carpenter, building homes in New Jersey. Then he became the manager of a Sherwin Williams Paint business in Summit NJ. He moved to Northville in 1957, residing at 411 S. First Street. His business career included working for Northville Land and Lumber, the water plant operator for the Village of Northville and the Town of Northampton and Sacandaga Park, and manager and owner of Allen & Palmer Plumbing, Heating and Hardware until his retirement in 1997. His community contributions have included: a member of the Northville Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Rotary International, treasurer of the United Methodist Church of Northville, trustee of the Baptist Church of Northville and Architect of its West addition. He is survived by his wife Alice Richards Conover of Northville, three children ¹ Carol L. Throop and her husband James A. Throop of Newfield, NY, Deanna E. Lawatsch and her husband Frank E. Lawatsch of Upper Montclair, NJ and Clifford D. Conover and his wife Susan Conover of Liverpool, NY. Nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive him. He was predeceased by his former wife Elizabeth A. Peuka and daughter Lesley Jean Conover.Friends may call Wednesday June 22, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday June 23, 2005 at the Northville Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Klueg officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.
