Willard D. Wilson

June 2, 1938 - July 15, 2019

Willard D. Wilson, 81, of Mayfield, passed away at home on Monday, July 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He recently said, "I've had a good life". He was the son of Lester and Ina Wilson and resided in Mayfield all his life. He had been a member of the Army National Guard (Spec4, Jan 61 to Jan 64, and at Ft. Dix June to Dec of 61). He had assisted with the building of Mayfield Elementary School, and went on to work at Crushed Rocks Products and then Callahan Industries until his retirement. After retirement, he built his dream home and you could find him "Up to camp, woodin' it", where he kept busy providing fire wood to many locals. He also enjoyed deer hunting, and feeding the deer through the winter. His wife of 56 years, Donna, predeceased him last summer. He was also predeceased by his daughter Dixie, and his brothers Marlin, Burton and Kenneth. He is survived by his sons, Dennis Wilson of Mayfield and David (Debbie) Wilson of Hope, and his daughter Denise (Roger) Reid of Fort Plain. Also, his grandchildren Carley and Connor Goguen, Ryan (Gaby) Wilson, Nicholas and Nathaniel Wilson, Zachary (Beth) Hayes, and Patrick Reid as well as his great grandchildren and his furry companion Gracie. He was a man of integrity and humor, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, Mountain Valley Hospice, or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of the Northville Funeral Home. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.northvillefuneralservice.com.
