Ruth M. Aldrich

June 30, 1922 - April 18, 2017

Lake Placid and Town of Day Ruth M. (Leyland) Aldrich went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2017 surrounded by her family. She spent several years at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid due to an extended illness. Born Jun 30, 1922 in Schenectady, NY. She was the daughter of the late Harry J. Leyland and Ethel G. Leyland. Before moving to the Town of Day in 1970 she resided with her family in North Troy for many years. She was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and during World War II she worked at the Watervliet Arsenal. On August 12, 1940 she married William (Buster) Aldrich who passed away October 6, 1995. They were married 55 years. Survivors include a son David K. Aldrich and his wife Chandler Ralph of Lake Placid and a daughter Dawn L. Graham and her husband Alfred of the Town of Day. Survivors also include granddaughters Kristin Aldrich (Sam Churco) and Randi D’Agostino and a grandson, Ryan D. Aldrich. Her great-grandaughters include Jada Meadows and Lilyana D’Agostino and a great grandson, Zachary Churco. She had many nieces and nephews that she cared for greatly. A special thank you to her nephew Jeremiah Gould, who predeceased her, and his wife Dhiana Gould who were always near. Ruth was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, James, Harry and Charles and three sisters, Jeanne, Betty and Joan. Prior to moving to Lake Placid, Ruth had been a choir member for many years singing at both the Northville United Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member, and the United Methodist Church of Northville. She also belonged to the Steadfast class, UPW, Bible Study, the Sacandaga Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society. She was also an honorary member of the Ladies of the Lake. Her friends from her church and many organizations were ever-faithful with cards and visits and phone calls. During her last years at home she was assisted by Helen Flansburg who gave her much loving care. Ruth donated her body to Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program so that there will not be any visitations scheduled. There will be a private memorial service at the convenience of the family. Memorials in her memory may be made the Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid, 185 Old Military Road, Lake Placid, NY 12946. Ruth received excellent care and much love from all the staff, volunteers and students over her extended stay there. The family thanks each and everyone of them. A special thank you also to Sister Denise for her faithfulness. Arrangements are in the care of Northville Funeral Service Inc. 401 Bridge Street, Northville NY 12134.
