Mrs. Rose M. Kaczmarczyk

February 3, 1921 - September 6, 2018

Mrs. Rose M. Kaczmarczyk, born in 1921 in Queens, NY to Elizabeth Choutka-Brojer and Charles Brojer. Rose grew up in Brooklyn, in the heart family, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends. Of Czechoslovakian decent, Rose learned to cook and sew at a young age from her grandmother, both abilities serving her well for her entire life. In her early twenties, Rose worked for the Nemo Company to produce women’s undergarments. Nemo was one of the companies that converted to war time production during WWII and Rose made corsets and undergarments specifically for WACS and WAVES and she was recruited to make parachutes used by the US forces during the war. For some time before she was married Rose also worked for the New York State Workers Compensation office in Manhattan. In December of 1943, Rose married Vincent Kaczmarczyk while he was still enlisted in the United State Navy, and after WWII ended they moved upstate to Vincent’s family farm in the town of Providence. Several years later the couple built a house in the town of Broadalbin, where they raised their family. From the 1960’s to the 1980’s Rose worked as a cook at the White Holland House Restaurant in Gloversville, where she was well known for her soup and turkey fritters as well as other fine food served at the restaurant. Rose’s gift as a seamstress and tailor was well known in the Broadalbin area, having made clothing for her family and friends over the years, including wedding gowns, winter coats and suits and specialty items. With her innate sense of style and design, she created clothing of high quality and perfection. Rose moved t Northville, NY in 2005, successfully settling into the community through Northville Presbyterian Church, enjoying village life and the friends she made there. She remained a member of the Broadalbin Chapter of the VFW for many years and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 50 years. Rose is predeceased by her husband, Vincent Kaczmarczyk (1976) and her son John Kaczmarczyk (1964). She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Kaye of and Rosemary Miller(Joseph Miller) and her grandson, Dr. Paul Miller(Dr. Caron Daley-Miller). A memorial service will be held at the Northville Presbyterian Church on September 29, 2018 at 11am with a luncheon to be provided after the service.
