Richard Dennis Spinks “Dick”

August 13, 1933 - February 15, 2021

Richard Dennis Spinks (Dick) age eighty-seven, passed away February 15 of 2021 at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home. He had resided at 16 Outlet Road Piseco Lake, NY. Richard was born in Gloversville NY on August 13, 1933 and was the son of Floyd and Irene (Hoose) Spinks. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School in 1952, then served two years in the Army during the Korean War. He also served twelve months over seas in Iceland. Richard was employed by the NYS Environmental Conservation Department with the Bureau of Wildlife for 31 years, and a ski instructor for 39 years at Oak Mountain in Speculator NY. He also played with the Glove City Colonials and was one of the original team players and coached for Pop Warner football in Gloversville. He had two children by his first wife, then in nineteen seventy-one he married Janice Luzinas and was married to her until 2010 when she passed away. They spent twenty-five plus years vacationing in Englewood Florida on the beach and fishing. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, golf and traveling, and recently spending time with his horses Red and Partner, and his dog Alfie. He was a Yankee and Giants fan. He is survived by his children, Debra (Spinks) Tinker and Michael Spinks, three grandchildren Crista (Marino) Sitterly, Michael J. Spinks and Ethan J. Tinker. He also has four great grandchildren, Johnathan, Anthony, Adam, and Caroline. Richard was predeceased by his loving wife Janice of thirty-nine years and his brother Allan Spinks. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. James Roman Catholic church Rt 8 Lake Pleasant, NY, and the burial at Higgins Bay Cemetery Piseco NY, when weather permits. Donations can be made to your local SPCA, or to St. James Roman Catholic Church. Arrangements are in the care of Northville Funeral Service, Inc., 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134.
