Mildred E. Caldara, 95 Gloversville, NY Mildred E. Caldara passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. A lifelong Fulton County resident, she was born on October 11, 1925 in Johnstown NY. She attended Johnstown Central & High Schools. She was the last surviving child of Imrich & Elsbeta (Skoka) Skadra: She was predeceased by 1 brother, Henry (Betts) Skadra & 5 sisters, Bertha (William) Obermann, Anna Skadra, Gizella (Marcel) Rosich, Mary (Thomas) DeSimone & Elizabeth (James) Greenman. She was also predeceased by her children, Stephanie Schettine & James Caldara, both of Gloversville & 1 granddaughter, Elizabeth Mahorney. Mildred worked in the office at Fownes Leather & later at Argersinger’s before starting her own business, Summit View Ceramics, which she ran between her home & Shirley Luck Senior Center in Johnstown. She was a wonderful artist & enjoyed that for 25 years until she retired in 1993. She also assisted her sister Gizella with Rosich’s Home for Adults in Gloversville. She volunteered for The Ladies’ Auxiliary of Gloversville Post Office, which was instrumental in the initial funding of Lexington Center back in the 1950’s. She also worked with The Women’s League of Voters at the Pleasant Square Fire Department for many years. She was also a 4H co-leader of the Charlie Browns group. Survivors include her husband, Anthony H. Caldara, who she married on July 25, 1947, four grandchildren: Toni Perkins of Gloversville, Michael Perkins II of Gloversville, Brittany (Daniel) Reece of Burleson, TX & Andrew Caldara of Gloversville, 2 step-grandchildren, Dana Marr of Baltimore, MD & Adrienne Phillips of Gloversville. Five great-grandchildren: Joshua Hulbert, Seth Hulbert, David Hulbert & Camdyn Perkins, all of Gloversville & Caleb (Diana) Hulbert of Greenwich, CT. Four step great-grandchildren Cody Marr, Alyssa Marr-Gavin, Michael Marr & Karen Marr, all of Baltimore, MD, and many nieces & nephews. She was also looking forward to her first great-great grandson who will be born this summer. Graveside services will be at 11am on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Fern Dale Cemetery in Johnstown. The Caldara family will have lunch at their home following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lexington Center, 127 E. State Street, Gloversville.
