Melanie Van Every

Melanie Van Every, age 56, a life-long resident of Edinburg died Friday April 26, 2019 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House following a short illness. She was born in Gloversville, NY on December 15, 1962. The daughter of Leland C. and Ruth Colson Robinson. She was a graduate of Northville Central School. Survivors include her husband Pearl Van Every, her Mother Ruth Robinson, her son Cody Parker(Alison), her sisters Dorothy Porteus (Charles), Christina Johnson (David), her brothers Lee Robinson(Janice), James Robinson, Greg Robinson (Kim) her step daughter Dawn, and several nieces and nephews. Melanie was a devoted grandmother who felt truly blessed to be able to share moments of her life with her granddaughter Ali, who referred to her lovingly as “Nanny”. Melanie had many talents some of which included crafts, cooking, taking pictures of the Great Sacandaga sunsets and that of a loving caregiver to local seniors and those around her. For 14 years she served as town justice for the Town of Edinburg. She was formerly employed by Brownell Lumber Company. She also formerly owned and operated a flower shop and worked as a dedicated caregiver employed by Lexington for the past 10 years. She was well known for her quick wit and sense of humor. In earlier years, Melanie’s passion was horseback riding, dancing and enjoying country music. She also enjoyed and owned classic and custom cars with her husband Pearl. They often attended car shows around the state together. She was an active member in the community and was a former member of the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Company. Melanie was an EMT and former member of the Edinburg Ambulance Squad. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday April 30, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Northville Baptist Church, 111 N. First Street, Northville, NY. Burial will take place in Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078 or the Lexington Foundation, 127 E. State Street, Gloversville, NY, 12078.
