Marie B. Riggs Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marie B. Riggs 95 of Jason Lane, Northville died Tuesday May 17, 2005 at the home of her daughters in Minnesota. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 14, 1909. The daughter of the late Clara and Jacob Burkhardt. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Wisdom Academy, The Jamaica Training School for Teachers and received a B.A. Degree from St. Johns University. Marie taught twenty two years in New York City Schools and she taught three years at the Wells Central School retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Rosary Society, a member of the Secular Franciscans, a member of the Northville Public Library and was a Past Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Sacandaga Garden Club.Survivors include her daughter Barbara Hallock and her husband James of Minnesota. Her step-son John Riggs and his wife Joan of Long Island. Her son-in-law; Louis DiVello of Northville. Ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband John Riggs, her second husband Vincent Riggs and her daughter Claire DiVello. Friends may call on Sunday May 22, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. The Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Northville with Father Robert Powhida as celebrant. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the Youth Group of St. Francis Church in Northville.
