Margaret K. Achzet

May 12, 1934 - August 16, 2014

Margaret (Kimball) Achzet, a resident of The Fulton Center for the past 4 years, passed away on August 16th after a long illness. Born May 12th, 1934 to Mary (Reid) and Edward Kimball. She attended local schools, graduating a year early in 1951 from Gloversville High school. After graduation, she was employed as a bookkeeper for the former Schine Theaters, Inc. She married Anthony (Tony) Achzet in September 1961. She worked alongside her husband at their Gloversville Exxon Service Station...winning various awards from Exxon for the cleanliness, quality, and prosperity of their business. After retiring with her husband in 1983, she lovingly cared for her sister Doris, until her passing in 1990. And then cared for her aunt, Gladys Kimball until her passing in 1998. She learned carpentry skills from her father, and enjoyed everything from painting and masonry, to building structures throughout her life. She was overjoyed living across the road from her granddaughter, getting to experience her growth from infant to adulthood on a daily basis. Margaret was known to be an extremely hard worker, that would help everyone with anything they needed. Survivors include her daughter Annette Achzet-Ltaif (Rob) of Gloversville, son Garry Achzet of Caroga Lake, granddaughter Julie Ltaif of New York City, sisters lona Javarone and Shirley Nellis of Gloversville, several brother and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Tony in 2008, her sister Doris, and her parents. Margaret's wishes were to be remembered by her friends and family the way she lived life before the onset of her illness in June of 2001. And as per her request, there will be no formal viewing or service. Interment will be next to her husband at The Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.
