Louise I. Haile

February 5, 1934 - October 5, 2020

Louise Inez Clark Haile, 86, of Northville, was called home by her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the Wells Nursing Home after a long battle with COPD and congestive heart failure. Louise was born on February 5, 1934 in Amityville, NY, to her loving parents, Clell Eugene Clark and Florence Marion Ross Clark. She grew up on Long Island and graduated from Hempstead High School in 1951 and immediately began an office job at the Long Island Lighting Company. It was a short-lived career before Louise was drawn into the role of wife and mother. But she was so proud of her days at the company and told us many entertaining stories over the years about her position and the people she worked with. On September 20, 1953, Louise married the love of her life, Harry Haile, and together they raised five children and shared 58 years of love and happiness, until Harry’s passing on October 20, 2011. They spent the first part of their life together on Long Island and later moved upstate to Northville on June 18, 1969. In December of 1977, they moved to California where they lived for a few years before returning in June of 1980 to the Adirondacks that they loved so much. In 1985 she returned to school and obtained her cosmetology license and a few years later, at the age of 55, she proudly obtained her driver’s license and enjoyed her newfound freedom for many years. Louise loved all children and always enjoyed taking care of children. She also felt a calling to take care of the cosmetology needs of those who were housebound - the elderly and disabled - because she believed that everyone deserved to feel beautiful. Louise liked to stay busy in her senior years and did so by being an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was always excited to participate in bake sales and bazaars. Her church family meant so much to her in that they were all truly loved and were a special part of her life for nearly forty years. Louise’s faith was an integral part of her life and sustained her through many difficult times, but overall brought her enormous joy, strength, and hope. She loved to converse and always enjoyed telling stories about her life growing up, about her friends, family and of course loved to talk about all of her children, grandchildren, and most lately her growing number of great- grandchildren. Louise truly was a people person who could talk to anyone about anything. One of her best qualities was that she always saw the good in everyone, no matter what, and always welcomed everyone of our friends to call her Grandma or “Mama Louise.” Some of Louise’s enjoyments were baking, watching her favorite TV shows, and calling friends and family both near and far to chat - often at great length. Her biggest pastime was spent on what many of us came to call her card ministry. She loved to send cards for every occasion, especially birthdays. Louise never forgot a birthday and took pride in writing a sincere, thoughtful and “thorough” message - often involving all sides of the card and envelope with number guideposts - to each of her many correspondents. Above all, Louise’s greatest joys in life were her family, both immediate and extended, her many close, long time friends, her church family, faith, and several beloved “Tigger” cats and ”Teddy” dogs that were all very loyal companions. In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise was predeceased by her sisters, Geri, Margie, and Mabel; brother; Dale; nephew, Eddie Lein and several brothers and sisters in-law. She is survived by her sister Jeanne Menneg, lifelong sister-friends Ruth Ranieri, and Marion Seddon, all of Long Island; her children; Thomas (Kari) Haile of CA; Stephen (Lornet Turnbull) Haile of WA; Linda Haile (with whom she resided the past five years in Northville along with granddaughter, Autumn); Michael (Veronica) Haile of CA; Harry (Patty) Haile of Mayfield; Kim Haile of WA; step-daughters Judy Haile of Long Island and Sue Petersen of FL. Louise is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Luke (Raven) Kenna, Autumn Kenna, Megan Haile (Gaelan Kelly), Ryan Haile (Colette Mignonne), Dylan Haile, Geoffrey (Hannah) Haile, Annelise Haile, Laney Haile, Shelby Haile, Lindzee Haile, Mckayla and Kelsey Haile, Jennifer (CiCi) Lieberman, and Rebecca Silva. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jacob, Caesar, Geo, Petey, CallaLily (her special little light), Thorin, Fiona, Rya, Xilin, Yves, Ori, Aya, Kamryn, Liliana, and Bradley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including nieces, Teesie and Wendy, who were always close to her heart. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the compassionate staff of the Wells Nursing Home for the loving care they provided for our mother during this past year. In remembrance of Louise, send a card, call a friend, be kind to everyone, and most of all, enjoy every day of life for the gift that it is. Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service of Remembrance on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 1pm at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the home of Linda and Autumn in Northville. Family and friends are invited to join in sharing memories and celebration of her life. Please remember to wear a mask and practice the latest COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Arrangements are through the Northville Funeral Service, 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134.
