Joan A. O'Lear

June 24, 1933 - June 5, 2022

Joan Anne (Caslin) O’Lear passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY surrounded by her family. Joan was born on June 24, 1933 to Thomas and Emma “Betty” Caslin. She grew up in Sunnyside and Cambria Heights, New York and attended Dominican Commercial High School. Joan spent the majority of her life living in Massapequa, NY and recently moved to the Great Sacandaga Lake area. Joan was married to Frank O’Lear, and the two would have celebrated their 70th Anniversary this August. She created a legacy of love in her family, as mother to Dianne and her husband Steve (Arata), Sharon and her late husband Richie (Betz), and Dan and his wife Linda. Joan was an amazing grandmother to Carolyn and her husband Chris, Brian and his wife Nikki, Meghan and her husband Phil, Katie and her husband Mike, Ryan and his wife Rachel, Amanda, and Cassidy. She was a loving great-grandmother to Ella, Jake, Tommy, Noah, Chase, and MJ. Joan also loved, and was loved by, her brothers-in-law, her many nieces and nephews, and her large extended family. Besides being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan worked at Berner High School in Massapequa, NY and later at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Home in Amityville, NY. Joan enjoyed watching old classic movies, sipping on French vanilla coffee, and spending time with her friends and family. Anyone who was fortunate enough to spend time with Joan will remember how she made them feel: important and loved. She had the incredible gift of seeing the best in everyone and was a role model for how to love unconditionally. A visitation will be held at Northville Funeral Service in Northville, NY, 401 Bridge Street, Northville NY 12134 on Friday, June 10, 2002 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi at 501 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134 on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105). Condolences may be made to the family online at www.northvillefuneralservice.com.
