Joan Ashcroft Gifford

Joan Ashcroft Gifford, 71, of Reed St. Northville, died Wednesday, Dec. 29 2004 at Saratoga Hospital with her children at her side. She was born Jan. 5, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. The daughter of the late David and Beatrice Jergonson Tanzey, Joan was employed as the cafeteria manager for Edinburg School before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Northville Lyons Club and a communicant St. Francis Catholic Church of Northville. On June 5, 1954, she married Edward Ashcroft, who predeceased her on Nov. 24, 1993. She was married to Ernest Gifford on July 13, 2003.Survivors include her husband, Ernest Gifford of Northville; her son, Edward Ashcroft of Edinburg; her daughter Victoria and her husband Robert Morgan of Edinburg; two step sons, David and Larry Gifford, both of Northville. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive her.Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Northville. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery in the spring.
