Mrs. Jane J. Aston, of Northville, N.Y., died March 10, 2005 at the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Cheektowaga, NY. She was 101.She was a homemaker and seamstress. Early in her life she had been a school teacher in a one-room schoolhouse and had worked at the Utica Public Library. In Later years she had worked for the late Dr. Edwin Sharkey in Northville, and at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, NY. Mrs. Aston was born Jane Myfanwy Jones in the Town of Steuben, Oneida County on July 29, 1903, the second of two daughters of John Owen Jones, a native of Wales, and Hannah Catherine Jones of Remsen, NY. After her motherãs death, when she was only two years old, her father was remarried to Elizabeth Pugh with whom he had three daughters, Eleanor, Florence and Elizabeth who are deceased.Mrs. Aston attended Oneonta Normal School and the Utica School of Commerce. In 1927 she was married to B.J. Aston, an area banker, who died in 1973.She is survived by a son, James and his wife Elise of Orchard Park, NY, a granddaughter, Jane Taylor and her husband Brian of Summit, NJ, a grandson, David and his wife Kimberly of Snyder, NY, four great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Robert Murray and his wife Carol of New Hartford, NY.A Celebration of Mrs. Astonãs life will be held in Northville, NY in the spring.
