James J. Davis Jr.

James Joseph Davis, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on September 10, 2014, in Spring Hill, Florida. He previously resided in Edinburg, NY, and Upper Saddle River, NJ. He was 89 years old. The son of James and Catherine Davis he was born in Queens, NY, on Flag Day, June 14, 1925. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Imelda Ann McDonough, of 53 years, his twin brother, Charles, and his younger sister, Margaret. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet DePace, his sons Fr. Jim, Robert and his wife Karen, Brian and his wife Anne, his daughter, Mary Luthin and her husband Bill. Jim’s grandchildren William and his fiancé, Lindsay Calamia, Brian and his wife, Kerry, great grandson Griffin and Timothy Luthin; Kristen, Jennifer and Sarah Davis. Brian, Jr., Patrick and Nicholas Davis. Stepsons Joseph, Russell and Laura, Warren and Janet, and Gerard DePace. Jim is also survived by his brother Robert and sister, Edna Holly. At 17 Jim joined the United States Marine Corp. He served in the Philippines during WWII and went back to serve in the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He lived his life as "Once a Marine, Always a Marine". Jim retired after 39 ½ years with the American Broadcasting Company as a Senior Audio Engineer. He spent his life travelling all over the world covering sporting events for ABC Wide World of Sports receiving multiple Emmys for his work. Jim was an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Francis Catholic Church in Northville, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Council 8846, PO Box 635, Northville, NY 12134-0635. Arrangements have been made for Sunday, September 14th at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, September 15th at St. Francis Church, 501 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Robinson Cemetery, Edinburg.
