Harry Robert VanArnam

Harry Robert VanArnam, 91 of S. Second Street, Northville died Tuesday May 10, 2005 at home following a long illness. He was born in Northville, NY on July 22, 1913. The son of the late Harry W. and Martha Anibal VanArnam. He attended Northville School, Dean Academy and the Manlius School and was a graduate of Syracuse University class of 1936. He was a World War II Army Major serving from 1938 to 1945 under George Patton. He received a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He was employed at General Electric, the Northville Bank and was manager of the former VanArnam Ford Motor Co. in Northville retiring in 1985. He married Mabel Miner on April 24, 1942 and she predeceased him on April 19, 1997.Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville and a lifetime area resident.Survivors include his son; John Stephen and his wife Kathryn VanArnam of Johnstown, his daughter; Susan Conover and her husband Clifford of Liverpool, NY. One sister; Marian Mosher of Northville. Five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive him.A memorial will be held on Sunday May 15, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church of Northville at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Terrell officiating. The family will greet friends after the service at a reception in the Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at the convienience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Northville or Mountain Valley Hospice. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.
