Harry E. Clute

October 2, 1933 - June 26, 2021

Harry E. Clute, age 87 a resident of the Town of Mayfield, died Saturday June 26, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gloversville on October 2, 1933, the son of the late Clarence and Loretta Gordon Clute. He was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1953 to 1955. Harry worked at various Leather Mills in Maintenance lastly employed for Liberty Leather in Gloversville. He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed cutting wood and he could fix almost anything. Survivors include his wife Geraldine Wessendorf Clute whom he married 62 years ago to the day. He is also survived by his son; Douglas Clute (Lori Ellis), daughter Darcel Ross (Kevin), Sisters; Hazel Pollak, Betty Briggs and Joan Cheney (Clyde). Five grandchildren; William Hayes (Kayla), Joe Hubiak, Alicia Ellis (Michael), Crystal Walker (Scott) and Emily Barker (Alec). Sister-in-law’s; Fran Older and Grace Clute. Several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his daughter; Lori Clute, his brothers Roland, Dick (Irene) and Clarence Clute, his two sisters; Naomi (Harold) and Shirley (Butch), and his brother-in-law’s Dick Briggs and David Pollak. Family and friends are invited to Visitation on Wednesday June 30, 2021 at the Gloversville Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave, Gloversville from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon where a funeral service will be held at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown. Following the burial a gathering will be held at the family home, 180 Griffis Road, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the James A. Brennan Humane Society.
