Glendon J. (Frenchy) Claire, 74 of Ridge Road, Northville died Thursday May 26, 2005 at home following a long illness. He was born in Edinburg, NY on June 12, 1930. The son of the late James P. and Muriel Stone Clair. He was a graduate of Northville Central School where he was an exceptional basketball player and was inducted into the Northville Central School Hall of Fame. He was a Navy Veteran serving his country from 1949 to 1951. Glendon was employed as a paper maker for International Paper for thirty-four years until retiring in 1988 due to illness. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville and the American Legion Post 1076 in Northville. Survivors include his wife Dorothy May Patten Claire of Northville. Three sons; Keith and Mary Claire of Staten Island, NY, Craig and Lori Claire of Spokane, Washington and James and Michelle Claire of Northville. One daughter; Denice Claire of Gloversville. One brother; Eldon Claire of Northville. Nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive him. He was predeceased by three sisters; Helen Robinson, Katherine Claire and Mary Louise Fryer and two sons; Glen Allen Claire and Wayne Claire. Friends may call on Tuesday May 31, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Terrell officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
