Edward Charles Phillips, 93 a former resident of Mayfield died Sunday January 30, 2005 at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home. He was born in Edinburg, NY on March 17, 1911. The son of the late Charles M. and Chloe Collins Phillips. He was married to Maria Anna Ryth from Finland in 1936. She predeceased him on June 15, 1987. Edward served in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was employed by the Sacandaga Golf Course, he was a glove cutter, a self employed logger and then worked for the Johnstown School District. He is survived by his daughter Judy Ponzi of Fort Plain, his step daughter; Anja Bellen of Mayfield, his half sister Rebecca Voght of Florida; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother; Leonard Phillips and his daughter Jean Phillips Pier. Friends may call on Wednesday February 2, 2005 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home were the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be in King Cemetery in the spring.
