Dawn Lea Carman
July 20, 1962 - March 30, 2022
Dawn Lea Carman, age 59 of Northville NY passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Dawn was predeceased by her mother Dorothy Darling, father Kenneth Carman, sisters; Wendy Mae Darling and Donna Carman. She is survived by Richard Ruf (Sara) and Skyler Ruf (Makayla), sisters Debra (Ron) Morey, Denise (John) Dence, Dorothy (George) Graves, brothers Fred (Deb) Carman, Jason ( Melanie) Darling and Wesley Darling, two aunts Mary Olmstead and Lillian Frisse and honorary sisters Mindy Bailey and Nancy Sauve who were lifelong friends, and also many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. Dawn was the family matriarch for all her nieces and nephews. She was loved and admired by them all and she created a special bond with each one individually. Dawn had a passion for photography that was born in high school. After being taken under her wing by her PE teacher Mrs. Jean Frasier, Dawn was handed a camera and asked to snap pictures at all the games. Dawn was very involved in the athletic program at Northville Central School but never stepped foot on the field. She was manager of any and every team they needed as well as Girls Athletic Association president and president of her senior class. After graduation Dawn volunteered her services to the school and her community which continued for over 40 years. In the early days she would take photos at the games and present a scrapbook to each senior every year. She took pictures free of charge for proms, senior pictures, yearbook and plays. She took photos at every game and events but her great love was soccer. She also had an eye for all things nature, capturing beautiful scenes of the area and wildlife, especially bald eagles. Her second love was singing. Dawn had the voice of an angel and performed at many weddings. She especially loved to sing in her car to Journey and this is a special memory to all the friends and children in her life. She got her real estate license in the 80’s and worked at Gifford Real Estate. She also worked at Coloney Center on Route 30 and then ran the Robin Station in Northville for many years. In 2016 the community had a fundraising event and purchased new camera equipment for Dawn to continue to do what she loved. The family will be donating that back to the school to continue Dawn's legacy. Dawn was a gem in her community and an angel on Earth to all whose lives she touched. She had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone. She was loved by her whole hometown and they too were her family. Visitation hours will be held at the Northville Funeral Service on Friday April 29th, 2022 from 3:00- 6:00 p.m. Donations can be made in Dawns name to Sacandaga Helping Hands. P.O. Box 993 to help offset her funeral expenses.
