Clarence C. Morrison, age 93 of Elm Lake Road, Speculator died Sunday September 28, 2014 at the Wilkinson Resident Healthcare in Amsterdam, NY. He was born on September 4, 1921 in Lake Pleasant, NY. The son of the late; Robert and Nina White Morrison. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Europe throughout WWII where he participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was employed for thirty-three years for Downey’s Chevrolet Garage and twenty one years as a mechanic for the Hamilton County Highway Department. Clarence was a lifetime area resident, he served on the Speculator Village Board as Trustee for several years, was a Communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Lake Pleasant, a former member and last living member that formed the Lake Pleasant Fire Department and former member of the Speculator Fire Department. He was also a member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife; Theresa Bennett Morrision whom he married on June 14, 1947 in Gloversville, NY. His daughter; Linda (Clifford) Slack of Lake Pleasant. Grandson; John (Kendra) Slack and beloved great-granddaughter; Avery Marie Slack all of Tolland, CT. One sister; Dora Harrison of Gloversville and his sister-in-law; Joan Morrison of Speculator. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Patricia Morrison and brothers; Richard, Harold, Kenneth, Abram and Calvin Morrison. Friends may call on Thursday October 2, 2014 at the St. James Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Fish Mountain Cemetery, Lake Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilkinson Resident Healthcare in Amsterdam. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.
