Carol Ann Bills Sherman

November 24, 1943 - October 24, 2014

Carol Ann Bills Sherman was born November 24th 1943 on Fox Hill Rd. in Edinburg NY to Asa and Othelia Farrington Bills. God called her to her heavenly home on October 24, 2014. She was a graduate of Northville Central School (class of 1961). She married the love of her life John “Jack” Sherman on September 21, 1963. When Carol was 5 years old John told her that he planned to marry her someday, and he did! They celebrated 51 years of marriage this year. Carol was blessed to be the mother of 5 children: Dale, Merilee, Asa, Aaron, and Randell. Being their mother was her greatest calling and privilege and she excelled at serving and loving her husband and children. As her life became filled with 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, she delighted in each one – sharing their joys and concerns. She was a fun Grandma who always took time to play. Carol was saved at a young age at the Fox Hill Pilgrim Holiness Church and fully committed her life to the Lord as a teen. Serving God was her highest priority and she did so with consistency and great love and care for all she met. She touched many lives that others forgot or passed by. God’s love flowed through her in remarkable ways. She made everyone feel special and loved! For 40 years she labored at her husband’s side as a faithful and dedicated pastor’s wife at Pilgrim Holiness Churches in Monticello NY (9 years), Grand Gorge NY (15 years) and Green Grove PA (16 years). The past 9 years she and Jack served God through an organization they founded called Community Youth Programs. They ministered to at-risk youth, traveling throughout the United States and Canada letting kids and young people know that God loves them and has a plan for their lives. Through this ministry she became the adopted “Grandma Sherman” to dozens of children and teens. She was amazingly gifted for children’s ministry and poured herself into countless lives. Many adults have shared how they were greatly impacted as a child as a result of her ministry. A testimony to her prayers and faithful example is her 3 sons, all full time ministers and her daughter serving in children’s ministry. Two of her grandchildren are in Christian service as well. All of her children and grandchildren are serving God today, due in no small part to the loving investment and Godly example of their parents. Carol had a zest for living, she found joy in serving, and delighted in the little pleasures and beauties of life. She collected friends as treasures, made her home warm and inviting, and was a gracious hostess. Her life was spent encouraging others with cards, phone calls and personal visits. She was a tireless worker and an inspiration to all who knew her. Carol was a member of the Green Grove Pilgrim Holiness Church and faithfully attended Wellman Wesleyan Church in Louisville KY where she had lived the last 2 years. Her smile, sweet spirit, and loving concern made her a vital part of her church family. She was predeceased by her parents, son Randell James Sherman, granddaughter Magdalene Sherman and sister Bernice Bordeaux. In addition to her husband Jack of Louisville KY, she is survived by a daughter – Merilee and Brad Waterman of Northville NY, 3 sons – Dale and Judy Sherman of Winner SD, Asa and Marlene Sherman of Twin Rocks PA, and Aaron and Hannah Sherman of Louisville KY, 13 Grandchildren – Tasbah & Keith Lavery, Tonweya & Judy Sherman, Cyndi and Mark Musser, Mindy Waterman, Stephanie and Wesley Asbell, Manley Waterman, Marlaina and Hope Sherman, Ethan, Garrett, Ashden, Leanna and Conner Sherman, 6 Great Grandchildren – Alanna, Cassie and Emily Lavery and Jacob, Danika, and Martin Musser. She is also survived by brothers Stan and Jane Bills of Northville NY and Meredith and Ruth Bills of Mill Hall PA, Brothers In Law – Sonny Bordeaux of Corinth NY, Jim & Lorna Sherman of Lebanon PA, Sisters In Law – Janice Glenn of Dixon IL, Cathy and Bob Symons of Schenectady NY, and Barb and Phil Blowers of Northville NY. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and brothers and sisters in the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but we anticipate a Heavenly reunion some day. A memorial celebration of Carol’s life will take place on Monday October 27th 2014 at 11am at Wellman Wesleyan Church 3220 Bohannon Ave. Louisville KY, with Rev. John Case officiating. Friends may call at the church an hour prior to the service. Calling hours will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Thursday October 30, 2014 at Northville Funeral Service 401 Bridge St. Northville NY with a funeral Friday October 31, 2014 at 11 am at the Baptist Church Of Northville, 111 N. First St. Northville NY with the Rev. Donald M. Myers officiating. Interment will be in the Edinburg Cemetery. We know that though she is now absent from the body, she is present with her Lord!
