Alta E. Winn
September 12, 1921 - May 1, 2015
Alta Drusilla Edwards Winn was called to her heavenly home on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the age of 93. She was born Sept. 12, 1921 to Walter and Ethel Wilbur Edwards. Alta was a graduate of Northville Central School. She married Benjamin Arnold Winn on Nov. 1, 1940. A life long resident of Edinburg. She was a member of the Edinburg United Methodist Church and was the UMW treasurer for many years. She worked at Serfis Glove Shop, Alvord Glove Co. and the Northville Coat factory. She was an avid reader and bird watcher and loved playing dominoes and checkers with the grandchildren and putting puzzles together. She adored her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending the family reunions in New York as well as Pennsylvania where her husband was from. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ellen(Robert)Finch and son David (Dolly) Winn both of Edinburg. 9 grandchildren: Randy (Renee) Finch, Evonne (John) Barber, Rodney (Dawn) Finch of Edinburg, Evette (Bart) Ostrander of Mayfield, Reggie (Becky) Finch of Providence, Donna (Danny) Jenkins, Dianna (Harry) Downing of Hope. David (Connie) Winn, Dawn (Chris) Buyce of Northville. 15 Great Grandchildren: Amber (Catlin), Gordon, Jessica (Jason), Robert, Kayla (Will), Cynthia, Shadow, Jenna, Kaylee, Christina, Daniel, Brittany, Gavon, Madeline, Harry. 7 Great, Great Grandchildren: Isaiah, Russell, Luke, Trevor, Travis, Rodney, Sadie. Brothers Guy (Dorothy) Edwards, Earl (Bonnie) Edwards, Bert Edwards, and sister Tressa Hopkins and sister-in-law Priscilla Edwards. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband "Bill" in 1968, her sister Elfleda (DeDe) Olmstead and brother Jay Edwards. Friends may call on Monday May 4, 2015 at the Northville Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2015 at the Edinburg United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Clarkville Cemetery, Edinburg. Donations may be made to the Edinburg United Methodist Church or the Edinburg Emergency Squad.
