Life Legacy


Dorothy Blasier, 94, of Old State Road, Northville died Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility. She was born on April 5, 1915 in Cheektowaga, NY, the daughter of the late Alvin and Elsie Rhodes Baker. She was a graduate of Williamsville High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Johnstown, a volunteer at the Northville Public Library, a former member of the Sacandaga Garden Club and a member of the Thursday Bridge Club at the Presbyterian Church of Northville. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and, in recent years, loved spending time with her family and friends. She always looked forward to bridge on Thursday afternoons.

Survivors include her children Barbara and her husband John Morenus of Northville; Judith and her husband Thomas Maupin of Watertown, Ct; and a brother, James (Natalie) Baker of Canandaigua, NY. Six grandchildren: James (Theresa) Morenus, Judith (Michael) Van Nostrand, Michelle (Johnny) Chang, Christopher (Rebecca) Maupin, Michael (Leila) Maupin and William (Anica) Maupin. Nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was predeceased by her husband Alan Franklin Blasier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 14, 2009 at the Northville Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northville Public Library or Mountain Valley Hospice.
