Biography

Donald L. Booth, Sr., 75, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 24, 2010. He was born on December 19, 1934, in Mayfield, the son of the late Clinton Eddy and Evelyn Ada (Montayne) Booth. Don graduated from Mayfield Central School in 1952, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving three years honorably. He also served in the Construction Battalion of the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1980-1990. He was very proud to be a veteran.

Don was employed at Mohawk Carpet for three years, Coleco Industries for twenty-seven years, Pete Rozzelle Millwright for two years, Vince Sadowski Construction for two years and Spaulding for four years. At the time of his death, he was a bus driver for Brown Transportation.

Don enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoying his pets, watching sports and helping out at the Brower Farm in Mayfield.

His loving family includes: Sally L. Booth, two sons, Donald (Lynsay) Booth, Jr. of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Duane (Toni) Wille of Gloversville; three daughters, Deborah Booth and Denise Brower of Gloversville, and Katherine Ludewig of Broadalbin; two stepsons, Douglas (Lori) Gifford of Mayfield, and John (Tia) Gifford of Gloversville; former son-in-law, Daniel Brower of Mayfield; former daughter-in-law, Tina Whitaker of Mt. Juliet, TN; seven grandchildren, Lindsay and Benjamin Brower of Mayfield, Danielle, Beau, Tommy, Cole and Bryce Booth all of Mt. Juliet, TN; four step-grandchildren, Natasha Wood of Gloversville, Billy Gifford of Northville, Aaron and Kenneth Tubbs of Gloversville; one brother, Clinton Lasher (Jean) Booth of Mayfield; three sisters, Patricia Long of Johnstown, Carolyn Robinson of Mayfield and Linda Newton of Johnstown, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; his longtime companion, Patricia Gifford; his stepson, William Gifford; two brother-in-laws, Donald Long and Ronald Robinson.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 30, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge Street, Northville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Northville Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Edinburg Cemetery.
