Life Legacy

Patrick S Maio, 78, of Northville, NY, passed away at home on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. He was born October 23, 1932, in Jersey City, NJ, the son of the late Emil Maio and Katherine Peters. As a youngster he enjoyed softball and school dances and the "unparalleled love and affection of family," including 2 surviving sisters, Mary E. Larsen, and Kathleen Scaeffer.

In 1951 he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country proudly for 4 years during the Korean War. While stationed in Maryvill, Missouri ("Shangri La"), his life changed irrevocably when he met the great love of his life, Marjorie E. Miller. They were married on a "glorious day" in July, 1952, in a small church ceremony. Pat called it one of the happiest times of his life.

After moving to NJ, he and Marge raised 3 children: Vikki Callison of Charlottesville, Va, married to Michael, Patrick Maio Jr, of Orlando, Fla, married to Joanne, and Dr. Angela Watt of Wilton, NY, married to Christopher. He is survived also by 7 dear grandchildren: Amanda Calllison, Richard Callison, married to Lauren Callison, Sean Maio, Miranda Maio, Gwyeth Maio, Megan Watt, and Christina Watt.

In 1989, Pat and Marge moved to a beautiful lakefront lot on Great Sacandaga Lake, where they have enjoyed a long and satisfying retirement. The family has enjoyed many great times there. Pat was an avid fisherman and animal lover. He enjoyed writing novels, memoirs, and articulate letters to the editor. He was a member of St Francis Catholic Church in Northville and of the Knights of Columbus. A strong faith in God was a guiding light in his life and he shared this with his family. We will miss him immensely.

Friends may call on Thursday April 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 9, 2010 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
