Life Legacy
Charlotte Coyle Dean passed away at home on March 2, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 9, 1922 in New York City, the daughter of Richard and Charlotte White. She spent two years at the College of Mount St. Vincent and finished her degree in Irish Studies at Empire State College.
Charlotte was very active in St. Anastasia School and parish in Douglaston, NY from 1950 until 1987 when she married James Dean and moved up to the Great Sacandaga Lake in Edinburg, NY. She founded the Douglaston Conservative Club, brought Irish dancing lessons to adults and at the age of 55, earned her pilot's license. She was an avid painter, seamstress, quilter, gardener, clogger, geneologist and a lover of all things Irish. In addition to raising her nine children, Charlotte was “mom” and counselor to many of the neighborhood children, always offering a bed, a meal, a shoulder to lean on and sound advice. The Coyle door was always open and all were greeted with her beautiful blue eyes and warm Irish smile.
Charlotte was preceeded in death by her first husband D.Robert Coyle and sons Robert, Dennis, Philip and David and step son Michael Dean. She is survived by her husband James Dean of Edinburg, children; Kathleen Maher (Marty) of Chittenden, VT, Mary Ann Bausewein (Joel) of Hope, Charlotte “Sha” Bulka (Peter) of Northville, Margaret Breen (Daniel) of Greenfield, Elizabeth Chayer (Steven) of Seattle, WA, and Thomas Coyle (Debra) of Buckley, WA, stepchildren; Pam La Mattina (John) of Willington, CT, Judy Barrett (Charles) of Westin, WV, James H. Dean (Jane) of Grenich, CT, 33 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. At Northville Funeral Service in Northville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church of Northville.
