Life Legacy
Robert E. Dampier, 92 of Griffin Road, Wells died Saturday January 30, 2010 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility following a long illness. He was born in Wells, NY on October 18, 1917. The son of the late; Elmer and Josephine Werner Dampier.
He attended Wells School and was a World War II Army Veteran serving in Italy and Africa. He was employed for 42 years as a Heavy Equipment operator for the Town of Wells.
He was a member of the Wells United Methodist Church, the former VFW and American Legion in Wells. He was married to Gene Luke Dampier on August 17, 1947 who predeceased him on May 22, 2000.
Survivors include his son; Robert C. Dampier of Wells. One sister; Irene Joseph of Gloversville. Several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephew also survive him.
Friends may call on Tuesday February 2, 2010 from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Algonquin Cemetery, Wells in the spring.
