Biography
Vivienne Gifford, 94, of Ft. Edward, New York, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Ft. Hudson Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in Day, New York, she was the daughter of Hattie Robinson Weaver and Frank Weaver. Mrs. Gifford was predeceased by one daughter, Kimberly, and her seven brothers and sisters. She lived most of her life in Mayfield, New York. Vivienne married Everett Gifford on June 30, 1938, and they settled in Mayfield to raise their family. She was a self-employed hairdresser while raising her children, and then became a supervisor at Coleco Industries until retirement in 1978.
She and Everett enjoyed 58 years together before his passing in 1996.
Mrs. Gifford is survived by her children: Brian Gifford and his wife, Jean, of Mayfield, New York, Michael Gifford and his wife, Tina, of Ft. Edward, New York, Cheryl Crow of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Diane McGahan and her, husband, Joseph of Concord, New Hampshire; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Vivienne's family was the most important thing in her life and her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Her grandchildren include: Kaile Gifford Doti and Christy Gifford, daughters of Brian and Jean Gifford; Kecia Gifford Lifton, Natalie Gifford Ingram, Michael J. Gifford and Sean Gifford children of Michael and Tina Gifford; Michael Crow and Randall Crow, sons of Cheryl Crow; and Justin Otto, son of Joseph and Diane McGahan and Mark Otto.
Great-grandchildren were a particular joy for Vivienne and she loved spoiling each of them: Aiden Doti and Christopher Doti; Samuel Gabranski, Hayley Gabranski and Isabelle Lifton; Sofia Ingram and Cooper Ingram; Tyler Crow, Tanner Crow, Madison Crow, Brandi Carr and her son Gabe; Rachel Otto and Kathryn Otto.
Services: Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Northville Funeral Service, Inc., 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY 12134 from noon to 2 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow the calling hours at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
